A man has been charged with murder after an 80-year-old's body was found in Castlemaine, police confirmed.
The 53-year-old was interviewed by detectives, police said, and charged on Monday evening with one count of murder.
Police said the 53-year-old and the deceased man were "believed to be known to each other".
The 53-year-old man is due to face the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

A MAN is in custody following the "suspicious" death of a man in Castlemaine.
Emergency services were called to a Wimble Street address just before 10.45am on Monday.
A Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed a man was in custody and assisting police with their enquiries.
