Goulburn-Murray Water said it expected the work to start on June 1 and for it to run for 17 weeks.
"During this time, the public access track to the Campaspe River off Spillway Road to the east of the spillway will be closed to the public for the duration of the works, as will the public toilet facilities," the authority said.
There will also be some interruptions of a "short duration" for traffic using Spillway Road.
Other news:
"These works will ensure we will continue to operate Lake Eppalock safely and efficiently into the future," GMW's Warren Jose said.
"We ask that people take extra care when using these roads during the works period, as there will be large machinery moving throughout the area on both sides of the main spillway."
Lake Eppalock is currently 34.8 per cent full, down from 41 per cent in January.
