The Blues held on to defeat Tatura 1-0 in one of the best games of the season so far.
Ethan Hunter's goal in the 31st minute was the difference between the two teams.
"It was a really good game,'' Tatura coach Tristan Zito said.
"The game went back and forth and both teams created plenty of chances. There could have quite easily been more goals scored by both teams.
"We hit the post a couple of times and had a couple of one and ones that we couldn't convert. Their keeper had a good day and our keeper had a good day.
"The scoreline could have been a lot different on another day. I was really happy with the way we played, but we couldn't quite get the result we wanted.
"Honourable losses don't really count for much, but it was good to see us play well against a quality side. It was a different feeling to the day we lost to Shepparton United."
The victory increased Strathdale's winning streak to four.
The Blues are a perfect 12 points from four games and they have a game in hand on FC Eaglehawk and Epsom, who are ahead of them on the ladder on goal difference.
Crucially, the three points gives Strathdale a six-point lead on fifth-placed Tatura.
FC Eaglehawk retained top spot with a 2-0 away win over Shepparton South.
Recruit Jesse Matthews was the hero for the Borough, scoring twice from the penalty spot.
"Shepparton South is a big, strong, physical team, so we were happy to come away with the three points,'' Hawks' coach Keegan Smyth, who didn't play on Sunday, said.
Alex Caldow took the first penalty for the Borough and missed, but the referee ruled the keeper had moved off his line early and awarded the Hawks another spot kick.
Matthews stepped up and nailed it to give the Hawks the lead.
Matthews earned another penalty in the second half and kicked truly to seal the three points for the Borough.
Epsom consolidated second spot thanks to a comprehensive 11-1 home win over La Trobe University.
The Scorpions had eight players find the back of the net, with the in-form James Crawley scoring four times.
Spring Gully bounced back from two-straight defeats to edge out Shepparton United 1-0.
An own goal from United defender Zulfiqar Alizada late in the first half was the only score in a tight encounter.
WOMEN
La Trobe University moved to the top of the women's championship ladder, but Spring Gully United were the big winners of the round.
The Reds overcame the absence of some key players to down Shepparton United 1-0 and remain equal on points with La Trobe and second-placed Strathdale.
The hero for the Reds was 15-year-old sensation Frances Leach, who broke the deadlock midway through the second half.
It was her ninth goal of the season.
"We had the best of the first half and we had a few chances that we didn't take,'' Gully coach Simon Smith said.
"It was a pretty even contest and a real midfield battle. We played well and it was a really satisfying win.
"We had five players missing as well which made the win even better. We defended incredibly well.
Smith lauded the performance of his young star, Leach.
"It's incredible for a 15-year-old to play the way she is,'' Smith said.
"She's a natural."
The other top teams made the most of playing against inferior opposition.
La Trobe Uni put 19 goals past bottom side Epsom, with Holly Boldiston scoring an incredible 13 times.
Boldiston's big haul gives her 21 goals in five games this season.
Chloe Parker added a hat-trick and Wakilele Ezard a brace in a lopsided encounter at Epsom.
Second-placed Strathdale cruised to an 8-0 victory at home over Tatura.
Blues' strike Lucy Teale scored five times to take her season tally to 11 goals.
Team-mate Bridget Chamberlain scored twice to also move her season tally to 11 goals.
Normally 17 goals is well and truly enough to take the cake for most goals for the weekend, but that wasn't the case for Strathfieldsaye Colts United.
Colts won 17-0 against Swan Hill, but were two short of Uni's grand total.
Rebecca Berry's scoring run continued with seven goals to lift her total to 19 this season.
Chelsea Tobin and Lauren White both scored hat-tricks and Robyn Johnson added a brace in the big win.
Eaglehawk and Shepparton South played out a 1-1 draw at Truscott Reserve.
The Hawks took the lead inside the first five minutes through Shannon Fox.
Shepparton South tied the scores in the first minute of the second half thanks to Elisha Antunov and that's the way the score stayed. South is in seventh place, while the Hawks remain in ninth.
Moama-Echuca catapulted into sixth place on the back of its 6-1 thumping of Golden City.
An early strike from Jessica Demaria and two first-half goals from Thany Williams broke the game open for the Raiders.
City star Letesha Bawden got one back for the Rams seconds before half-time.
Gypsy Van De Zand, Demaria and Natalie Sands sealed the points for the Raiders with goals in the final 10 minutes of the match.
