Eaglehawk Community House coordinator Tracey Clarke said the community house wouldn't be able to survive without the help of its volunteers.
More news:
"This week is a whole big celebration about the help and support that volunteers provide to organsiations right around the country," she said.
"Ordinarily we need around 9500 hours and every year to function on a basic level, it's an absolutely huge commitment that we receive from our volunteers.
"We get them from all different sorts of areas and walks of life but they love helping and supporting their community, it's a really satisfying feeling to help the community in the way that they do."
Bendigo Community Health Services held a volunteer appreciation morning tea for the volunteers at Eaglehawk Community House on Monday.
Ms Clarke said it was lovely to be able to thank everyone for their hard work over the past year.
"It's so important for us to have days like this and it's great that we can stretch it out for the whole week, once every year and there will be lots of different ways that we will be celebrating (on Monday).
"This will be a whole week of just different activities and just really thanking all of our volunteers for the great job they do, not only for us but how they celebrate the community.
Ms Clarke said many things just wouldn't happen without the hard work of volunteers.
"That starts with everyday activities here that we have like community lunches, activities, classes, tai chi, community classes, gardening, admin and even putting our magazine together."
Other news:
On Tuesday, Ms Clarke along with some volunteers will represent the community house at the Neighbourhood Houses Victoria awards in Melbourne.
They are finalists in the community resilience category.
"We are excited to go along but really it doesn't matter what happens, our team in here are winners already," Ms Clarke said.
"We had a phenomenal year last year and we seized every opportunity that we could to help our community.
"I am just so proud of everyone here and what they have been able to give and they are a really special team."
