Crews have fixed a problem with train detection equipment that affected V/Line services across the state on Tuesday morning.
"We thank passengers for their patience while we worked to get them where they needed to go as quickly and safely as possible following a rail equipment fault," a V/Line spokesperson said.
"Crews coordinated works to keep disruption to the network to a minimum while safely repairing the damaged equipment."

A fault is causing major delays to V/Line services, including trains on the Bendigo line.
The train operator said that due to "a rail equipment fault, services are currently delayed network wide".
The services affected on the Bendigo were:
From Bendigo
- The 06:56 Swan Hill - Southern Cross service will terminate early at Sunbury and no longer run to Southern Cross. Passengers can board the next departing service from Sunbury to complete their journey.
- The 14:26 Bendigo - Southern Cross service will not run today. Passengers can board replacement coaches.
From Southern Cross
- The 11:06 Southern Cross - Eaglehawk service will not run today. Passengers can board replacement coaches.
- The 12:06 Southern Cross - Bendigo service will not run today. Passengers can board replacement coaches.
V/Line has been contacted for comment.
There were also delays and cancellations on the Seymour, Gippsland, Geelong and Ballarat lines.
