South Bendigo is first of the four clubs in the Flack Advisory Services Group-backed Bendigo Region to host one of its most popular XC events.
Past winners of the open title in the Woodvale Classic include Bendigo University Pride star Andy Buchanan, and Bendigo Harriers' Brady Threlfall, winner of the inaugural event.
Racing at Woodvale on Saturday involves three distances.
First event will be the 6500m at 2pm. The field will race two laps of the course at Woodvale Recreation Reserve in Janaway Street.
Categories are open, 40-plus and 50-plus for men and women.
The 3200m will start at 2.05pm and involve prizes for under-18, under-15, 60-plus, and invitational open.
Final event of the afternoon starts at 2.50pm when the 1000m for under-9 and under-10 boys and girls, and invitational open groups will be raced. Entry is on the day.
Athletes will not only be vying for placings, but also points for their club in the season aggregate.
Top 10 placegetters for each gender and various age groups will earn points.
Clubs to be represented are Bendigo Harriers, Bendigo University, Eaglehawk, and South Bendigo.
