SOUTH Bendigo's Brad Holland has capped a big season with the accolade of Bowls Victoria's Club Coach of the Year.
Holland's award comes on the back of having led South Bendigo from Bendigo Bowls Division battler to power team during his five seasons at the helm as coach.
When Holland was appointed coach in May of 2016 after leaving Bendigo East the Diggers were coming off the BBD's weekend pennant wooden spoon.
Five years on the Diggers have played off in three grand finals, won two premierships (2020 and 2021) and last month narrowly missed out on winning the state pennant title when pipped by two shots in the final by Melbourne.
"There has been a lot of work that has gone in and it is a real honour to be recognised with this award," Holland said on Friday following Thursday's awards night at Bendigo's All Seasons.
"A culture doesn't change overnight, it takes time and we've been able to do that over the five years.
"I've really enjoyed my time at South Bendigo. Everyone has embraced the change and the challenges we've faced."
Holland this week re-signed with the Diggers for a further two seasons in a boost for the club as it now eyes off winning a hat-trick of weekend pennant division one flags to give itself another crack at the state title that just eluded it.
The Bowls Victoria Awards Night was held in conjunction with State Champions Week being contested at Bendigo East until Tuesday.
