ALANNA AND ALICIA EGAN
Folky jazz twin sisters Alanna and Alicia will be in concert this weekend.
Alanna and Alicia have toured Australia, captivating audiences with their original folky-jazz-roots songs, harmonies and onstage warmth.
The sisters are both gifted songwriters and have won awards at national level.
Special guest William Alexander will also perform.

BENDIGO FAMILY HISTORY GROUP
Bendigo Family History Group is seeking your help.
Like everyone else, our group has been affected by COVID-19.
We now have permission to re-open our volunteer family history research assistance service, which we have conducted in the Bendigo Library for many years.
The COVID-19 situation has made us evaluate how we manage this service and, coupled with the fact that several members are quite elderly, we are seeking to expand our volunteer network.
The volunteer times are: Wednesdays 10am to 1pm and 1pm to 4pm, and Saturdays 10am to 1pm.
We will provide the appropriate training.
Please, could you consider joining our team? The old adage of "many hands make light work" will certainly help us to continue our worthwhile community service.
Just one three-hour volunteer session a month would be a big help and assist to maintain our tradition of service.
Where: Call into the Bendigo Library, Hargreaves Street, Bendigo and speak to a volunteer on a Wednesday or Saturday.
GROW PROGRAM
GROW has offered weekly peer support groups for mental wellbeing for over sixty years now.
We have a unique, proven program formed from the lived experience of thousands of people in recovery.
Peer support helps reduce feelings of isolation, offers hope and builds contribution and leadership.
The Murray2Mountain region has weekly groups in Shepparton, Tatura, Benalla, with groups re-opening in Bendigo.
There will also be various online zoom groups in the day or evening.
We are holding four one-hour information sessions on zoom in May to provide information about what we offer.

MOVIE SCREENING
Show your support for Red Box Wildlife shelter and join in for a film.
The movie shown will be Kangaroo: A love hate story. There will also be a Q&A with the films creators and a launch of an exhibition by photographer, Tamara Kenneally.
The film will talk about the truth surrounding a contradictory relationship with a beloved icon, the kangaroo.
Entry by donation.
Arrive early and enjoy the exhibition with dinner and a beer.

COMMUNITY RIDE
Enjoy a Sunday Mother's Day ride to the Botanic Gardens this weekend.
There will be both longer and shorter ride options.
The shorter ride will be from the Fountain to Botanic Gardens (11kms return) and the longer rides will start in Spring Gully and Golden Square (22kms return).

DANCE FEVER
The Spring Gully Dance committee is hosting two evenings of community fun with these dance events.
Saturday evenings will include upbeat CD music, a supper of tea and coffee with individually wrapped biscuits (BYO if you want).
$7 admission.
Monday evenings will feature CD music and admission from $4.

FESTIVALS AND FAIRS
BENDIGO WRITERS FESTIVAL
The Bendigo Writers Festival is an annual three-day event that hosts more than 100 writers in various discussions.
The festival is celebrated throughout Bendigo and invites all to experince the central Victorian region.
There are events located at The Capital, Ulumbarra Theatre and the Bendigo Library just to name a few, with all events COVID-compliant.
This years festival will feature international guests, Steven Greenblatt, Nicholson Baker, Amitav Ghosh and David Rothkopf with Australian writers such as James Boyce, Steve Carroll, Zoe Daniel, Zana Fraillon, Hilde Hinton and Samuel Johnson just to name a few.

EXHIBITIONS
IN CONVERSATION
For decades renowned artist Melinda Harper has created abstract art across different mediums, including paintings, tapestries, ceramics and sculpture.
Recognisable for her understanding of colour placement, and in conjunction with the Castlemaine Art Museum's In Conversation series, Harper has selected a range of works from the collection to present in dialogue with her own.

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS
Local artist Beverley Downie is exhibiting many of her works at the Castlemaine Market Building.
Beverley Downie is celebrating 50 years of art with paintings, prints, textiles, quilting, fabric boxes, costumes and landscape collages.
This is a rare opportunity to view and even purchase fine examples of Beverley's work.

ART MOST FOWL
Art Most Fowl is an exhibition that celebrates printmaking and imagery inspired by the natural world.
Two artists, Bridget Farmer and Rhyll Plant unite with an appreciation for the nature of birds.
Farmer's work explores drypoint engraving while Plant's depicts subjects through wood engravings.

MARY QUANT: FASHION REVOLUTIONARY
The Bendigo Art Gallery is proud to present Mary Quant: Fashion Revolutionary, an exhibition on the British fashion designer Dame Mary Quant.
The exhibition is on loan from the Victorian and Albert Museum in London and showcases the peak of Quant's career with never-before-seen fashion and radical designs.
The exhibition brings together more than 110 garments, along with accessories, sketches, photos and much more.

NATURE ARTISTS
Naturally Inspired showcases how botanicals and flora can signify cultural, historic, geographic, social and scientific ideas.
The exhibition features 12 professional artists from the Bendigo Botanic Gardens illustrators, contemporary and traditional nature artists known as the Friday Group.
These works explore a relationship of plants and nature.
The Friday Group was founded in 2005 and was originally led by formally trained artists.
The popularity of the group is increasing every year with up to 15 regulars.

#PEREMPUAN 2021
#Perempuan 2021: Contemporary Indonesian Art is an exhibition that celebrates the unspoken stories of Indonesian women.
The works, selected from the Project Eleven Collection, explore activism and traditions through a broad range of art forms including painting, textiles, sculpture and installation.

HEAVENLY
Heavenly is the latest exhibition from the Castlemaine Costume Museum, a privately owned collection of fashion, ephemera, and stories.
Christening gowns, baptismal bonnets and capes, hand-stitched French first communion outfits, accessories and more will all feature in this exhibition.
While the exhibition features costumes from the 1850s to 1970s, there is a focus on the transitional bridal fashion through the 1960s.

BENDIGO ARTHRITIS CLUB
The Bendigo Arthritis Club (Support Group for MSK - Musculoskeletal Australia) is holding its AGM in June.
The event will have speaker, Buffy Squires, Community Program Coordinator for Musculoskeletal Australia, who will talk about recent news and findings from a MSK National Survey.
The club also continues to host Warm Water Exercise sessions by trained leaders at the John Lindell Pool (Anne Caudle Centre) and the Peter Krenz Pool, Eaglehawk on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
