BOTH the Pyramid Hill and Leitchville-Gunbower Football-Netball Clubs are rallying around Matt Pollock after he was seriously injured last Saturday.
Playing for the Bulldogs in their Loddon Valley league senior game against Marong, on-baller Pollock was forced from the field with a neck injury following a tackle.
Pollock was taken to Bendigo Hospital where scans revealed he had suffered fractures to his neck.
Pollock was transferred to the Royal Alfred Hospital in Melbourne on Sunday where he had surgery on Tuesday to take out and replace the front disc that had ruptured.
The experienced Pollock - nicknamed "Wiggs" - is in his first season playing with the Bulldogs after being recruited from Leitchville-Gunbower, where he was one of the key cogs during the Bulldogs' reign of dominance in the Heathcote District league.
Pollock played in both the Bombers' 2017 and 2018 HDFNL premierships, with Joel Donehue on behalf of the club having established a bank account to support him, wife Kristie and children Harper and Leni through his lengthy recovery period.
"It's obviously a tough time for Matt and his family and we're here to support them the best we can," Pyramid Hill co-coach Nathan Fitzpatrick said on Wednesday.
"As far as Matt's footy goes, clearly it's very much on the backburner at the moment. We just want to see him get himself right and his wellbeing is much more important than anything.
"He has sent us a message saying the surgery all went well and that he hopes to be back home on Thursday, so that's really good to hear."

With the premiership experience he brings from the Bombers, Fitzpatrick said Pollock had been a valuable acquisition for the Bulldogs since originally signing with the club ahead of the cancelled 2020 season.
"He has been fantastic. He's a starting on-baller who has won a heap of clearances for us," Fitzpatrick said.
"He had been in our best players a couple of times already and it's his experience, match awareness and leadership that has been really good for us."
Those wishing to support the Pollock family can do so via the following bank account details:

Meanwhile, Bulldogs' full-back Dylan Morison will miss this Saturday's home game against Maiden Gully YCW with concussion.
Morison was injured in a marking contest late in Saturday's three-point loss to Marong, leading to the game being called off with four minutes remaining while waiting for an ambulance and paramedics to attend.
Fortunately for Morison, who had been one of the Bulldogs' best players, he was cleared of any structural damage.
