Heathcote's largest annual event - Heathcote on Show - will return for the Queen's birthday long weekend next month.
Organisers say the celebration of food and wine will come back bigger and better than ever.
It will include food and wine tastings, market stalls, music and children's activities.
The festivities will be a long way from the problems Heathcote faced at roughly the same time last year.
Last July, the town's tourism leaders were mulling what a looming Melbourne lockdown would mean for the traffic that usually passed through town between the state's north and south.
The so-called Ring of Steel was about to descend on metropolitan councils as well as Mitchell Shire, a rural municipality where a COVID-19 outbreak seemed likely to get worse.
Mitchell Shire's border was close to Heathcote.
The town was also reeling from state border closures which had stopped New South Wales travellers stopping in the main street.
Heathcote tourism operators are recovering and even put on a one-off festival earlier this year to claw back some of their 2020 losses.
This year, Heathcote on Show organisers are warning that people will need to book places at many events due to COVID-19 protocols.
