Lamb pulled on the boots for the HDFNL clash against Heathcote after completing a night shift for construction company John Holland.

"I hadn't had any sleep and at quarter-time I'd only kicked one goal and I thought it wasn't going to be my day,'' Lamb said.

Three quarters later, Lamb had kicked a further 12 goals for a game total of 13 in the Demons' 98-point win.

"After quarter-time everything clicked and it was one of those days where everything went right,'' the former Sydney, GWS and Carlton player said.

"Everything I kicked never looked like missing. The only shot I missed for the day was probably the easiest shot I had.

"I wish I could kick like that every week."

Lamb's 13-goal haul was the highlight of a White Hills' performance that wasn't going to plan at half-time.

They only led the Saints by six points and the visitors probably should have been in front had it not been for wayward kicking in front of goals.

"Heathcote played some really good footy in the first half and we probably tried to be too pretty with the ball,'' Lamb said.

"We were lucky Heathcote missed a few shots in the first half. After half-time we got our ball movement going and we were able to hit the scoreboard.

"Credit to Heathcote, they put up a really good fight."

Lamb has 24 goals in four games for the undefeated Demons.

During the off-season the club floated the idea of moving Lamb from attack to half-back where he played most of his football in his 66-game AFL career.

"I love playing forward,'' Lamb said.

"I was speaking to (assistant coach) Jack Fallon early in the year and he was talking about me playing across half-back.

"I told him that with the team we have this year that I'd be more valuable to the team in the forward line.

"The ball movement this year has been great and I'm the lucky one that gets to take advantage of all the hard work from the boys up the field."

Lamb kicked 55 goals in 12 games in his first season for White Hills in 2019.

The Demons made the finals, but were a few lengths off the top three teams.

This year they have more depth through the midfield and some much-needed height around the ground.

Club great Matt "Bart" Sawyer has dusted off his boots to provide a big body inside forward 50 to support Lamb.

"Bart has been great for us,'' Lamb said.

"He takes one of the best defenders from the opposition and he blocks for the other forwards.

"He's a big man and he's hard to get around which is helpful for us.

"He doesn't warm up much or train much, but he gets himself through the games. He's doing a great job for us."

The Demons and Lockington-Bamawm United are the only undefeated teams after four rounds, but Lamb is not getting carried away.

"It's been a good start to the season, but to be fair we've probably played teams that aren't necessarily expected to play finals,'' Lamb said.

"We've got a big challenge this week against Colbinabbin at Colbinabbin, so it will be good to see where we're at.

"It should be a high quality game."
