The match of the round was built as a battle of two genuine flag contenders, but it was one-way traffic for the Bulldogs from the first bounce.

Square set the tone with a five-goal to none opening term before running out emphatic winners 16.8 (104) to 1.4 (10).

Lily Campbell, Bree Heiden, Andrea Wilson, Amanda Carrod, Ella Cochrane and Sarah Baldwin were named best in a performance where Square had good players on every line.

"I didn't think it was going to be a scoreline like that, but we kicked straight which helped,'' Square co-coach Rick Ladson said.

"The girls came to play. They're a proud group and they throw everything into what they do. They push themselves, they ensure everyone does their bit and they love playing together."

The Storm, who had only conceded one goal in their first three matches, were best served by Alana Long, Angela Gamble and Maeve Tupper.

After four rounds Golden Square is the only unbeaten team.

The Bendigo Thunder moved into second place on the ladder when they edged out Eaglehawk by 12 points at Weeroona Oval.

The Thunder looked set to win by a big margin when they raced to a 27-point lead at the main break.

However, the Borough dug deep in the second half and gave the Thunder a scare.

The Hawks kept the Thunder scoreless in the second half, but their wayward kicking in front of goal across the day proved costly.

The Thunder had three less scoring shots, but walked away with the four points after winning 5.2 (32) to 2.8 (20).

Jacinta Louttit, Georgia Gordon, who kicked three of her side's five goals, Bridget Fellows and Shardae Sharp were the standout players for the Thunder.

Eaglehawk's gallant fightback was led by Charlotte Edlin, Rachel Thomas, Georgina Hyett and Hannah Kenny.

Kyneton bounced back from two-straight losses to defeat Kerang by 79 points under lights at Camp Reserve.

Teagan Ainslie and Jennifer Schellekens kicked nine goals between them as the Tigers cruised to a 13.9 (87) to 1.2 (8) victory.

Ursula van Dyk, Paige Webber-Mirkin and Shannon White also played well for a Kyneton side that kicked its biggest score of the season.

Sophie Peacock, Jemma Meehan, Arieta Laweloa and Rachael Booth were best for Kerang.

In the final game of the round, Kangaroo Flat outclassed North Bendigo at Dower Park.

The Roos had nine individual goalkickers in the 20.27 (147) to 0.1 (1) win.

Kelly Mensforth, Eloise Gretgrix and Shelby Knoll led the way with four goals each for the Roos.

Chloe Green, Abbey Barber and Ruby Campbell won plenty of the football.

North's best players were Cass Coughlan, Indianna Phillips and Rose Wilkens.
