READ MORE - Dragons cull Roos in 102-point demolition
SOUTH Bendigo's sizzling start to the Bendigo Football-Netball League season continued on Saturday, with a 25-point win over Gisborne keeping the Bloods one of two undefeated teams after four rounds.
The other is Sandhurst, with the two pace-setters set to face each other in a QEO blockbuster next Saturday.
The Bloods were relentless in their harassment of Gisborne at the QEO and were never headed in an impressive 16.7 (103) to 11.12 (78) victory.
The emergence of the Bloods as a genuine finals candidate has been one of the stories of the first month of the BFNL season, with South Bendigo having now beaten two highly-touted sides in Gisborne and Eaglehawk, both on the QEO.
With four wins from as many games, the Bloods already have almost as many as they did (five) in their last season in 2019 as they continued their best start to a season since 2009.
Bloods' star forward Kaiden Antonowicz kicked his side's first three goals on the way to a haul of six.
Elsewhere in the BFNL on Saturday, Sandhurst maintained its unblemished record with a 102-point win over Kangaroo Flat.
The margin would have been far greater had it not been for the Dragons' wayward kicking at goal as their accuracy from the previous week against Golden Square eluded them.
The Dragons had 41 scoring shots to nine in their 19.22 (136) to 5.4 (34) win at Dower Park.
Reigning premier Strathfieldsaye emerged victorious in its clash with rival Golden Square at Wade Street.
Set up by a dominant - albeit wasteful first half in which it kicked 4.16 - the Storm prevailed 12.23 (95) to 12.8 (80) to win its second game in a row, while also inflicting the Bulldogs' second-consecutive loss.
At Camp Reserve, Kyneton was given a scare by Castlemaine before winning by 30 points.
The plucky Magpies aiming to avoid a 39th-straight loss had led during time-on of the third quarter, but the Tigers kicked away to win 13.24 (102) to 11.6 (72).
And at Princes Park, Eaglehawk held Maryborough scoreless in the second half in its 20.16 (136) to 3.5 (23) belting of the Magpies.
