Kangaroo Flat dug-deep in the final quarter to overcome a defiant Sandhurst by five goals on Saturday afternoon.
Heading into the last quarter of the BFNL 2019 grand final rematch the Roos were down by four goals (32-36), but a last minute charge pushed them over the line to win 51-46.
"In the final quarter we did our basics really well and the girls stuck to our structures with strong drives, in addition to our goalers shooting without hesitation," Kangaroo Flat coach Jayden Cowling said.
"We did what we needed to get the win."
A mammoth 19 goals to the Dragons' 10 in the final secured victory, but it wasn't all smooth sailing for the Roos.
"We had a great start but then dropped our heads in the second and found ourselves down," Cowling said.
"We addressed it at half-time, lifted our heads and increased the intensity for a strong finish.
"It certainly feels good to get it over the line after the draw against Gisborne last week which helped prepare us for this match with Sandhurst."
Roos captain Chelsea Sartori said the team showed plenty of fight in the second half.
"We were a bit disappointed in ourselves in the way we played the first half, but to then turn it around and come out and have such a strong final quarter was a good team effort," Sartori said.
"We played our brand of netball by keeping our movements short and sharp to minimise Sandhurst's opportunities to intercept."
The Roos now move to a 3-0-1 record while the Dragons are 3-1.
Dragons coach Tamara Gilchrist said there were positives to take away from the loss to the Roos.
"We're not worried or upset about the loss. It was some good netball and great to have a competitive hit out," Gilchrist said.
"We had a few unforced errors and lapsed in concentration which they capitalised on.
"But, it's a long season ahead with plenty to work on."
In other games, Gisborne continues to show its strength with an eight-goal win 48-40 over South Bendigo (2-1), moving to a 3-0-1 record.
Maryborough (0-3) had a tough match against Eaglehawk (1-2) going down to the visitors 33-56 and Golden Square (1-3) notched its first win of the season with a narrow two-goal win over Strathfieldsaye (1-3) 38-36.
Kyneton(1-2) had the bye.

Huntly secured what coach Emily Eliades described as a "must win" game over Mount Pleasant on Saturday.
The Hawks locked down the Blues by five goals 53-48 on the final siren, but the win came just at the right time.
"It was such a close contest as Mount Pleasant never gave up, not for a second," Hawks coach Eliades said.
"We knew we had a job to do and we managed to take an early lead.
"Then towards the end of the final quarter they just kept coming at us and it's safe to say we were glad to hear the siren."
Eliades said the Blues' high level of fitness was a challenge for the Hawks.
However, it was no match for their shooting power.
"We had Chloe Fletcher as goal shooter who played an outstanding game," Eliades said.
"Our goalers worked really well together and showed strong movements around the ring.
"Overall, it was a really good match and we're very happy to walk away with the win."
After the loss to Colbinabbin in round three the Hawks were eager to learn from their mistakes and apply all that had been learned into the game against the Blues.
"Last week against Colbo we dropped off in the last quarter and they were then able to get ahead," Eliades said.
"But the best thing about our playing group is their ability to learn in each game and then implement it as soon as we hit the court again.
"Today our only major challenge was overall match fitness which the girls are working on and each week we are able to stretch it that bit further."
Hawks move to a 2-2 record while the Blues are 1-2.
Meanwhile, reigning premiers White Hills (3-1) defeated Heathcote (2-2) 56-29 at Scott Street.
Colbinabbin (3-1) made light work of Leitchville Gunbower (0-4) with a 45-goal win (76-31) and Elmore (4-0) defeated Lockington Bamawm United (0-4) 67-25.
North Bendigo had the bye.

Pyramid Hill upset Marong with a 13-goal 50-37 win at Malone Park on Saturday.
"We managed to get the early jump which helped," Pyramid Hill coach Zoe Kennedy said.
"Throughout the match the scoreline would go out then come back closer and the match really did feel tighter than the final margin."
Kennedy said strong defensive efforts from the Bulldogs got the match over the line, with the team moving to a 3-1 record while the Panthers are 1-2.
"We had a few good turnovers down our defensive end and a strength was our ability to steadily bring the ball down the court," Kennedy said.
"Bec McKnight's shooting was strong all day as well."
Four games down in the 2021 LVFNL competition and the Bulldogs are starting to refine their game-day cohesion ahead of what will be a long season.
"Each game we're seeing such positive improvements and learning more about each other and how we play," Kennedy said.
Moving forward the Bulldogs plan to continue with their steady style of netball and will refine their game-day strategies of how they move the ball around the court.
Meanwhile, Bridgewater (3-0) locked in a 21-goal win over Newbridge (0-4) 51-30.
Mitiamo (4-0) locked in a 16-goal win over Calivil United (1-3) 66-50.
Inglewood sits at 1-3.
