A 13-GOAL masterclass from Jed Lamb powered White Hills to a 98-point win over Heathcote in the Heathcote District league on Saturday.
The Saints served it right up to the Demons in the first half, and had it been not for wayward kicking should have led the home side at the main break.
However, it was all one-way traffic in the second half as the red-hot Demons ran riot, booting 18 goals to three to bolt away with a 24.11 (155) to 7.15 (57) win and remain undefeated.
The blowout result was among a one-sided round in the HDFNL where the average margin was 105.8 points
The Saints had no answer to the brilliance of former AFL talent Lamb, whose 13 goals were the most kicked by a White Hills' player since Brad McConnell booted 12 against Huntly in 2007.
"We couldn't stop them getting easy ball into Lamb in the second half," Heathcote coach Wayne Primmer said.
"They played really well in the second half and Lamb just couldn't miss."
Lamb now has 26 goals from just three games against the Saints since joining the Demons. He also kicked hauls of eight and five against Heathcote in 2019.
The Demons led by a goal at half-time, 6.5 to 4.11, with Primmer left to lament his side's squandered opportunities early, which included 0.6 in the first term.
"We played well in the first half; all our stats indicated that we should have been in front," Primmer said.
"We were a couple up for inside 50s, we were in front for stoppages, and then they just blew us out of the water in the second half."
As well as Lamb's show-stealing performance, in-form midfielder Patrick Eefting and classy half-back Jack Fallon featured prominently in the Demons' best.
The Saints named Tom Pain and Matthew Mikic in defence their two best.
HUNTLY v MOUNT PLEASANT
Huntly's improvement was on show as the Hawks upstaged Mount Pleasant in the surprise result of the round to win by 35 points.
With their 13.12 (90) to 8.7 (55) victory the Hawks moved to 2-2 and can already tick off improving on their one win from 2019.
"With a lot of new players at the club this result shows us that we can compete with the top five and that's what we're here to do," said Hawks coach Stacy Fiske, who was sidelined with a hamstring injury.
"I hadn't been overly impressed with our first three games, so, hopefully, today is a bit of a turning point for us.
"We got back to basics... making sure we were defending and tackling well and when you do that it takes you a long way to winning the game."
A major blow for the Hawks was an Achilles injury to Jacob Greenwood, who had kicked three goals before his game ended.
"We had a lot of good players today. Jay McDonald off half-back and Luke Jones in defence too were both sensational and it was probably the best game Luke Semmel has played for the club, which was great," Fiske said.
The Blues were missing seven of their best 18 players, including the late withdrawal of ruckman Mitch Bennett (knee), but co-coach Darren Walsh said his side was beaten by a Hawks' team that showed a greater thirst for the contest.
"The want and will for the contest from Huntly was a lot more than us today," Walsh said.
"But there were positives for us; Fletcher White debuted and his family is synonymous with the club. And we also had Oliver Bish debut as well."
Ben Weightman kicked four of the eight goals for the Blues, whose best was midfielder Liam Collins.
LEITCHVILLE-GUNBOWER v COLBINABBIN
Colbinabbin dished out the biggest loss Leitchville-Gunbower has suffered since 2011, thrashing the Bombers by 144 points.
The Grasshoppers kicked 15 of their 24 goals in the second half as they bolted to a 24.16 (160) to 2.4 (16) win.
"Leitchy is a young side, but we were able to stick to our processes and structures really well all day," Colbinabbin coach Julian Bull.
"What we were doing in the first quarter we were still doing in the last few minutes, which was fantastic.
"We spoke about our game being built on pressure and we were able to do that right from the start. We still had 30 tackles in the last quarter, which was really good to see."
Recruit Jed Brain led the carnage for the Grasshoppers with six goals in a best-on-ground performance.
Brain was one of 12 Colbinabbin goalkickers.
It was another challenging day for the fresh-faced Bombers, who blooded yet another debutante in Abel Prout.
"It was a tough day at the office... there's no sugar coating it," Bombers coach Cameron Van Florenstein said.
"We've got 10 players with less than 10 senior games at the moment, but the boys are fronting up and having a crack."
In what was their second loss by more than 140 points to start the season, Will and Tom Brereton were the Bombers' two best players.
"They both played really well. Will was on-ball and Tom on the wing and they just ran all day and left it all out on the field," Van Florenstein said.
LBU v ELMORE
Lockington-Bamawm United's imposing form continued as the Cats belted Elmore by 146 points at home.
The Cats had their goalkicking radar on as they kicked the highest score of the season so far in their 31.8 (194) to 7.6 (48) shellacking of the Bloods.
LBU, which had Coby Cox debut, had already reached the ton by half-time when it had 17.3 (105) on the board and an 82-point lead as the Cats were again quick to stamp their authority with another flying start.
Lachlan Collins (seven), Thomas Leech (six), Anthony McMahon (five), Jarod Bacon (four) and James McPhee (three) combined for 25 of the Cats' 31 goals.
"Our forwards kicked really well, but we didn't make it easy for them with our entries going inside 50, so I felt for them all day," Cats coach Brodie Collins said.
"It certainly wasn't our greatest day with our delivery into our forwards, but I thought everywhere else around the ground we were fairly polished."
The heavy defeat leaves the Bloods at 0-4.
Elmore named backman Ben Makepeace its best player, while skipper James Harney battled hard in the front half to kick two of the Bloods' seven goals.
