The three-year-old, who was second-up from an injury break, stunned her rivals with an eye-catching from last to first win over the 1785m sprint distance.
Sweetly driven by Jackie Barker, Abbie Lincoln ($22.20) was one out and three back at the bell, but showed a good turn of foot to quickly overhaul the leader Im Arts Bettorsecret ($1.40 favourite) after entering the straight, going on to record a 2.1m win, much to the delight of her trainer.
"She's been a bit of a work in progress, we've had a few hiccups along the way, but she is going well now," Patching said.
"She hurt her knee and there's been a few other bits and pieces go wrong.
"We had her entered at Shepparton about five weeks ago and her knee blew up that morning.
"We got it x-rayed and scanned, but there was no bone damage, so we nursed her back to health.
"She had her first run back at Charlton the other day (April 15) and was a little disappointing, so we made a couple of gear changes and they did the trick."
Abbie Lincoln's maiden win arrived in her 12th race start. She has been placed on five occasions, including twice during the 2021 season.
Patching is now hoping the daughter of Art Major and Jaz Equity can kick on and consolidate on her breakthrough win.
"I think she has a bit of ability, her work at home is better than anything we've had for her last 400m," he said.
"I reckon she can certainly win a few more."
Patching praised a superb drive by Hamilton-based Barker, who notched up her 16th win of the season, with two of those achieved across the border in South Australia.
"When she 's available to drive, we always grab her," he said.
"She's ended up driving plenty of ours and does a fantastic job for us."
It was the Patching stable's second win of the 2021 season, following that of the seven-year-old mare Waiting For You at Swan Hill on March 16.
