The burn at One Tree Hill is one of several planned across central Victoria this week.
Crews planned to carry out the 15-hectare burn between 10am and 6pm on Wednesday, Forest Fire Management Victoria said.
The area to be burned is known as Block 8 and is five kilometres south of Bendigo.
The authority said smoke may be visible from Mandurang, Strathfieldsaye, Flora Hill, Spring Gully, Bendigo and surrounding areas.

FFMV said access to car parks and tracks in the area may be restricted.
Another burn is due to be lit on Wednesday east of Bendigo. Authorities plan to burn 65 hectares of bushland at Redcastle, near Costerfield.
