THE curtain came down on the Bendigo Pioneers' NAB League Girls season on Saturday with a 45-point loss to the Western Jets at Werribee.
Pioneers' coach Danny O'Bree described his side's performance in the 8.8 (56) to 1.5 (11) defeat as a reflection of its season - up-and-down.
"Today probably summed up our season pretty well. It was a bit of a roller-coaster from start to finish for us," O'Bree said.
"At times we were exceptionally good, and other times we weren't up to the level.
"After half-time today we were really competitive and had some really good patches of play, but before that we allowed them to kick five goals to none in the first half and didn't compete as we should have."
The Pioneers' only goal of the game came in the final quarter from Chantelle Mitchell.
Bendigo's best players were headed by Lucia Painter, Octavia Di Donato and Drew Ryan, who continued her hot form.
"It was one of those days where everyone had patches where they showed their best at different times, but we didn't have anyone do it for four quarters," O'Bree said.
Bendigo ends the fourth season of the NAB League Girls competition with a 1-7 record, with its only win having come against the Murray Bushrangers in round one by 26 points.
