BOOM Eaglehawk recruit Billy Evans is holding down the No.1 spot in the Addy's BFNL player rankings after the first month of the season.
Using a system based on the weekly best players submitted by clubs with a weighting given towards contributions made to winning teams, midfielder Evans leads the way with 45.0 points.
Evans, who played seven AFL games for the Brisbane Lions in 2015-16, has featured in the Hawks' best three players in all four of their games so far as he has been quick to make his mark at his new club.
Another of the Hawks' new midfielders in Noah Wheeler (32.0) also features prominently at number six.
Sandhurst utility Lachlan Ross (40.5), who has started the season brilliantly in defence, and team-mate Lee Coghlan (40.5) in his return from a knee injury fill positions two and three in the rankings, while South Bendigo recruit Cooper Leon (35.5), who has been a big possession-winner, is at four and Kyneton tall Jordan Mangan at five.
In the Heathcote District league, the rankings are dominated by the ladder-leading White Hills.
The Demons have burst out of the blocks to be 4-0 with a percentage of 317.4 and have five of the top 13 players, including hard-at-it on-baller Patrick Eefting (33.0) at number one.
Coach and star on-baller Sam Kerridge (32.0) is at two, Tate Mifka (27.0) is at nine, assistant coach Jack Fallon (24.5), who has been all class across half-back, at 12 and Hayden Wright (23.0), who has also been a key defensive cog, is at No.13.
The Loddon Valley league rakings are being led by Pyramid Hill key forward Braidy Dickens with 38.0 points.
Dickens, who has been in the best players in three of the Bulldogs' four games, is also the league's leading goalkicker with 26.
Mitiamo tall defender Lachlan Woodward (35.5) is at two, while Pyramid Hill also has gun on-baller Matt Ladson (35.5) ranked third.
How players earn their points:
The Addy's player rankings use a system based on the weekly six best players submitted by clubs, with a weighting given towards contributions made to a winning team (similar to the starting point for umpires in casting votes post-match) that produce a ranking total.
The points system:
Winning team - 1st best (16.0 points); 2nd best (13.5); 3rd best (11.0); 4th best (8.5); 5th best (6.0); 6th best (3.5).
Losing team - 1st best (7.0); 2nd best (6.0); 3rd best (5.0); 4th best (4.0); 5th best (3.0); 6th best (2.0).
Drawn game (both teams) - 1st best (10.0); 2nd best (8.5); 3rd best (7.0); 4th best (5.5); 5th best (4.0); 6th best (2.5).
In short, the rankings aim to reflect performing consistently and playing key roles in helping teams to win games.
