Authorities have issued an advice message for Axedale, Fosterville and Muskerry after the fire on the Axedale-Goornong Road.
It said there was no threat to residents, but they should stay informed and monitor conditions.
The Country Fire Authority was called to the fire at 11.55am. Crews had controlled the blaze by 12.15pm.
Residents have been urged to keep roads clear so emergency services can respond.
