During last week's Thursday Par competition Skaer, a six-handicapper, hit a 9-iron into the par-three third, what happened next he will remember for the rest of his life.
"Thankfully it came off the stick really well as it felt like I pulled it a little which would bring the water into play," Skaer said.
"The ball landed just short of the pin, went past then spun back off the hill."
Initially Skaer couldn't quite believe his eyes and there was a moment of doubt that it had happened after 11 years playing golf.
"I thought to myself 'did it really just happen', but it wasn't much longer before everyone started celebrating and high-fiving each other," he said
"It was all super exciting."
A hole-in-one may be every golfers' dream, but the ace also helped Skaer win a friendly competition between fellow Neangar member Thomas Donaldson.
"I always said I'd jump in the water if I ever made a hole-in-one, but we were only three holes in and the water looked putrid," he laughed.
The ace came as a boost after Skaer started the round with a double-bogey on the first.
"Up until then it really wasn't going that great but the rest of the round was pretty normal," he said.
Skaer finished the front-nine at one-under par 35, and then followed it up with a four-over 39 back-nine to finish at 74 off-the-stick.
With his first ace now official after 11 years of golf, it's only a matter of time before he cards his next as he plans to continue playing for a long time to come.
"Golf is such a great social outlet and not as competitive as others sports can be," he said.
"That being said, it's always great to get out there with your mates to have some fun."
