THE DRIVER of the truck that crashed today escaped by crawling through the space where his broken front windscreen once sat.
Police said he was helped by some nearby tradies shortly after the truck rolled on Axe Creek Road.
The clean-up continues and traffic in the area is being diverted.

Scrap metal the truck was carrying was strewn for some distance along the road and a number of trees at the site of the road were damaged during the crash.
The images also show that the clean-up will include a small amount of diesel on the road.
3.15pm
POLICE are investigating whether the truck that crashed in Sedgwick on Thursday had swerved to avoid an oncoming car.
The driver told officers he took evasive action after a car crossed slightly too far over double-white lines,
The driver did not remain at the scene, police were told.
Senior Constable Levina Bell said officers had assessed the 49-year-old, experienced truck driver and had ruled out alcohol or drugs as a factor.
The truck rolled on Axe Creek Road.
The crashed truck is still covering both lanes of the road and crews expect to remain at the scene for some time clearing its spilled load of metal.
Senior Constable Bell urged anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dash-cam footage to contact the Bendigo police station.
2.40pm
PARAMEDICS have taken a man to hospital following the rollover.
The man left the scene in a stable condition with what was believed to be upper body injuries.
2.30pm
VIC ROADS is warning of delays throughout the area after the rollover.
It has issued an alert for Axe Creek Road but has indicated delays could extend to Sutton Grange Road.
A CFA crew is still conducting safety works in and around the truck including clearing a number of trees to make the area safe.
It remains unclear when emergency services will clear the scene.
Earlier
A PERSON has been able to leave a truck unaided after it rolled in Sedgwick.
CFA and Fire Rescue Victoria trucks at the incident at the intersection of Sutton Grange Road and Axe Creek Road, south of Bendigo.
The truck is upside down across the road. It is not yet known whether traffic can flow past the site but authorities are understood to be diverting some traffic in the area.
Emergency services were called about the incident at 1.36pm.
An SES truck was called because initial reports suggested one person might have been trapped.
They have since left the vehicle on their own and Ambulance Victoria has dispatched a crew.
Police are also understood to have been called to the scene.
