Education officer Libby Noblet said the open range art program was busy this week with eager families and children excited to celebrate art.

She said the open range art program allowed people to draw, make things and explore their creative side in a group dynamic.

"The tables have been constantly turning over which is good and people have had to come back because we have been so busy," she said.

"The kids are loving it and some kids could just stay here all day.

"I think it's nice for them to be doing something together and encouraging their imagination and not using their phones or tablets."

Although the open art sessions finish on Thursday, more structured workshops will be on offer next week.

Ms Noblet said these would run alongside the gallery's Mary Quant exhibition.

"We have particular age groups that will be in each session and we will have a paper doll making class, a Mary Quant boutique workshop and an opportunity to make your own gift bag and tag," she said.
