An Easter Monday tradition for many, the parade is part of a larger festival that has been running for 144 years.
Maldon Easter Fair Committee treasurer Kathy Muller said this year saw some of the best crowds in the event's history.
"This was the best crowds we have had for a long time and the road in from Bendigo coming towards Maldon was just packed," she said.
Ms Muller said the parade exceeded the committee's expectations.
"After last year and the lockdowns, I think it has brought a lot more people to the town. I think people are just looking or a place to go and escape away from the city," she said.
"It is just so good to see people around again because it has been very quiet during the lockdown and we didn't have anybody in the town.
"This town does thrive on tourism and it is a great asset to have this parade and fair over Easter."
Fleets in the parade featured emergency services, frontline workers, local schools, businesses and bands.
Last year saw the parade head online due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Maldon's Janet Purcell has been coming to the parade for many years and said it was amazing to see it go ahead after a year of uncertainty.
"The streets have just been filled with not only locals and residents but with people visiting the town as well and it is lovely to see," she said.
"I have been coming for many, many years, a very long time, and this one is definitely very special considering everything we have been through."
Ms Purcell said it was great to see many people supporting regional events.
"It's great to see people out and about and in local shops and we have lots of families that have come up and it's great to see everyone coming together," she said.
"These events are very important and make a big difference in country towns."
