Playing on home soil at Epsom-Huntly Recreastion Reserve, the City under-15s edged out Werribee City 1-0 to consolidate ninth position on the table.
The difference between the two teams was Nuttall's fourth goal of the season at the 24-minute mark of the opening half.
The under-15s are in good form with two wins, one draw and one loss from their past four matches.
They're only one point behind fifth-placed Avondale.
A brilliant hat-trick from striker Hamish Walker wasn't enough to get the under-17s over the line against Werribee City.
The visitors opened up a 2-0 lead by half-time before Walker gave Bendigo a glimmer of hope with his first goal early in the second half.
Werribee City responded strongly and re-established its two-goal advantage four minutes later.
The visitors added their fourth and fifth goal of the game before Walker gave the home side a late spark.
The teenager scored twice in three minutes to complete his hat-trick and pull the scoreline back to 5-3.
However, time ran out for Bendigo City and the score finished 5-3.
In the other match played at Epsom on Saturday, the Bendigo City under-14s suffered a 6-0 loss to Werribee City.
