A MAN's car has been impounded, after he was allegedly intercepted driving at 170 kilometres an hour, with drugs in his system, and two small children in the car.

Police say they expect to charge the man with dangerous driving, refusing to accompany police for an oral fluid test and exceeding the speed limit.
State Highway Patrol officers allegedly detected the driver travelling at 143 kilometres per hour in a 110 zone at Faraday on the Calder Freeway on Saturday.

Before police could intercept the driver his speed increased to an alleged 170 kilometres per hour.
Officers claim when they pulled the vehicle over they found an infant in a baby capsule and another small child in a baby seat in the rear of the car.
The 35-year-old driver underwent a road-side drug test which allegedly returned a positive result.
He allegedly refused to accompany police for a further oral fluid test.
His car will be impounded for 30 days, with charges expected to follow.
The impound forms part of a five-day police operation aiming to keep people safe on the roads during the Easter long weekend.
The state wide Operation Nexus aims to reduce the number of lives lost and injuries on our roads.
Police are breath and drug testing motorists during the operation, as well as scanning vehicles for speeding.
The operation concludes at 11.59pm on Monday.
