Certainly a sense of justice this season in Emu Creek winning the premiership.
Twelve months ago the Emus were denied the chance to play in the grand final when COVID forced the cancellation of the flag decider against United, leaving the lower-placed Emu Creek as the runner-up.
But driven by the disappointment of what unfolded last season, the Emus got their redemption, beating United by 20 runs in the grand final to win their first flag since 2013.
A sign of their strength in both departments, the Emus were ranked second with bat and ball and had both Tyrone Downie (526 runs, 21 wickets) and captain Simon Marwood (432 runs, 11 wickets) named in the EVCA Team of the Year.
Downie's stellar 2020-21 included plundering the season's highest score - a whirlwind 173 off 100 balls against Axe Creek in round 17.

The Tigers fell short in their quest for back-to-back flags when beaten by Emu Creek in the grand final - a game in which they were one stage 7-37 chasing 151.
Set the pace in the first half of the season as they reached round nine undefeated, but couldn't maintain their consistency and slipped to fourth on the ladder.
Would have taken great pleasure in knocking off fierce rivals - and minor premier - Spring Gully in their semi-final, while the Tigers provided four members of the EVCA Team of the Year: Alex Code (481 runs), captain Harry Whittle (289 runs, 24 wickets), Jarrod Starr (26 wickets) and James Smith (24 wickets).
Were also beaten in the Twenty20 final by Sedgwick in February.

Were heavily reliant with the bat on coach Rhys Webb, who smashed 797 runs at an average of 79.7, although, Jesse Marciano (348 runs) ended the season with two tons in his last five hits.
As well as taking 22 wickets with his spin, Webb's brilliant all-round season was recognised with his second in win the EVCA's Col Brayshaw Award with 19 votes, while he also finished well clear in the Addy MVP points.

After a two-season absence the Rangas worked their way back into the finals, but fell at the first hurdle when beaten by eventual premier Emu Creek in their semi.
Were the only team in the competition to have four players score more than 300 runs - captain Matt Giri (441), Corey Dickins (420), Linton Colclough (346) and James Pietromonaco (303), while the Rangas also added to their firepower with the mid-season recruitment of former Australian under-16 representative Zane Keighran (189).
Not surprisingly, the Rangas were the competition's No.1 ranked batting side.
Also boasted the competition's leading wicket-taker in James Bailey, who ended the season with 28.

The competition's longest current finals-drought lingers for another season as the Panthers finished the best of the "also-rans" in fifth.
Got on a roll mid-season with three wins in a row, but were always chasing their tail after winning just one of their first five games.
While it was another season out of the finals for the Panthers - who last finished inside the top four in 2011-12 - their placing of fifth was a move up the ladder having finished a mix of seventh and sixth the previous four years.

The Redbacks would have been hoping the season could last a bit longer after hitting their straps late.
Finished on a roll with three-straight wins, including against grand finalist United, but left themselves too much ground to make up after winning just one of their first seven games.
Key recruits Bodee Scullie (383) and Josh Eastley (311) were the Redbacks' two top run-scorers, while Travis O'Connell (23 dismissals) earned the wicket-keeping spot in the Team of the Year.

BEST BOWLING: 4-5 - Brad Webster v Axe Creek.
Was always going to be hard yards for the Cobras once they were on the backfoot from the outset losing their first three games.
Too much with the bat was left up to skipper Marcus McKern, whose 500 runs was more than double that of the next best Cobras' player, Geoff West with 238.
As a team, the Cobras dropped away with the bat late when bowled out in three consecutive games for scores of just 76 (v United), 65 (v Marong) and 69 (v West Bendigo) between rounds 15 and 17.

The Rams have been a regular in the finals over recent years, but not this season.
Struggled to get a consistent side on the park from week-to-week and as a result, tumbled down the ladder from fourth last season to eighth with just four wins.
Did manage to claim some silverware, though, by beating United in the Twenty20 final by seven runs.

Another challenging season for the Cowboys, who went through winless and were on the end of some big hidings along the way.
It was tough going with both bat and ball, with their best all-round performer captain Ash Dixon with 547 Addy MVP points.
It has been a difficult return to division one for the Cowboys, who have just one win from their 29 games back in the top flight.
