More than 100 Lego displays will fill the Bendigo Exhibition Centre on April 10 and 11 as part of Bendigo Bricks.
The Bendigo Lego User Group event is returning after coronavirus cancelled it last year.
More news:
Lego ambassador Michael Peebles said Bendigo Bricks was the first Lego fan event since last year.
"We've got a few of the guys from Channel 9's Lego Masters coming and people from South Australia, New South wales and Victoria have entered displays," he said.
"The event keeps growing and growing. Creators have had an extra 12 months to build and a lot had the chance to refine and re-do what they had planned."
Mr Peebles said Lego's popularity had grown in 2020 as people looked for home-based activities.
"Certainly lockdown made it popular when people were looking hobbies to do at home," he said. "Puzzles, Lego and anything like that was a good commodity.
"Beyond that (TV show) Lego Masters has made a huge difference. It is showing that Lego isn't just blocks, there is a lot of other stuff you can do with it."
Among the 85 exhibitors at Bendigo Bricks will be local Lego creator Darren Hutchesson.
With a reputation for creating Lego-scale models of iconic Bendigo buildings, the major display Mr Hutchesson is planning will require multiple car trips to get it to Bendigo Bricks.
"I have been involved with Bendigo Bricks from beginning," he said. "Every time my display has gotten bigger. I was ready for the last Bendigo Bricks, my big display was built and ready waiting.
"In the past I have built the town hall with a little Rod Fyffe on the front steps, I've also built Joss House and The Capital theatre. This year will be another iconic building complete with clock tower."
While waiting for the return of Bendigo Bricks, Mr Hutchesson has also been working on smaller projects including a Bendigo Pride Festival display at the library.
"We have set up a display of a rainbow flag with mini figurines of people that people find pride or diversity in," he said. "Lego has always been a very diverse company.
"They always make sure children have right tools to create the worlds they want to. That philosophy of every little piece going together to make life fulfilling is why we want to be involve in Bendigo Pride."
Bendigo Bricks is on at the Bendigo Exhibition Centre on April 10 and 11. Entry is $8. Crowds are limited to 2000 people. For more details visit www.bendigobricks.com
