Kronk's life membership caps Newbridge Football Netball Club's presentation night

A HIGHLIGHT at Newbridge Football Netball Club best and fairest vote count and presentation night was life membership being awarded to Damien Kronk.Newbridge’s newest life member has completed 21 years as a player with the club and racked up 357 matches.Born and raised in the district, Kronk has had stints on the committee and because he has never played anywhere else his loyalty is beyond question.In opening proceedings presidents Ron Trimble and Mandy Dixon heaped praise on the clubs volunteers who had responded magnificently to the challenge of a difficult year because of the floods, and in particular Terry and Jeanette Miller who took on the task of canteen and bar duties at the club’s “home” ground for the season – Backhaus Oval.A special mention was also made to the dedicated group who supplied meals for the players after Thursday night training. On the football field, Jeff McMurtrie was the seniors club champion.McMurtrie was one of Loddon Valley’s best in this year’s inter-league clash with Maryborough-Castlemaine.The A-grade netball champion at Newbridge was Brittany Eastman.Trimble indicated that, one way or another, the club would be back at Riverside Oval in Newbridge for season 2012. The club’s off-field leaders received a huge ovation in recognition of their unwavering commitment and leadership over the past year.The Phil Hill memorial netball club contributors award was awarded to Ron Trimble and Roger Terrill. Football club treasurer Dean Gordon was also formally recognised for his outstanding contribution to the recovery of the club which continues.Not only has Dean had the club finances to manage, he also took it upon himself to ensure that the Reserve Committee and other user groups received their fair share of disaster relief support.Newbridge’s netball award winners for the 2011 LVNA season:A-grade best and fairest: Brittany Eastman.Runner-up: Tamara Weigard.
