THE versatile Angela Foley marked a superb season by becoming the inaugural Bendigo Thunder Women’s Football Club’s best and fairest award winner.Foley’s run and skill across midfield, in defence or attack played a big part in Thunder’s run to the north-west region preliminary final.There were many highlights in Bendigo Thunder’s first season.The Russell Jeffrey-coached team was beaten in the preliminary final by eventual premier, La Trobe.“After coming to terms with how the season ended, it was great for the club to get together and celebrate what was an amazing first season,” Thunder general manager Bianca Rinaldi said of Saturday night’s awards presentation at the Kangaroo Flat Sports Club.“It was great to acknowledge some fantastic achievements, and most importantly to celebrate the club’s achievements.” Thunder’s award winners for the 2011 season:Best and fairest: Angela Foley.Runner-up best and fairest: Jessica Kennedy.Most determined: Emma Wolters.Best in Finals: Emma Grant.Leading goalkicker: Emma Grant.Coaches award: Hayley Trevean.Best clubman: Bianca Rinaldi.
