A MAN who threw one of his crutches at his partner during a heated argument has been fined.

The 38-year-old appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to five charges including wilful damage.
The court heard on the afternoon of January 4 this year, the man was drinking alcohol with two friends in the backyard of his property.

His partner returned home from work a few hours later and also drank with the group.
A verbal argument broke out between the man and his partner, and the woman moved to the front yard to get away from him.
He followed and in the ensuing argument, he threw one of his crutches at her.
The court heard the woman hid behind a car as the man continued to verbally abuse her.
He eventually returned to the backyard and the woman went to her bedroom to sleep.

The victim's teenage daughter heard the altercation and grabbed her phone to call the police, but the man knocked the mobile out of her hand with one of his crutches.
The phone fell to the floor and was damaged.
The man on Wednesday also admitted to stealing two tyres from a Bendigo business in May 2018.
Defence lawyer Robert Timms told the court while there had been animosity between the man and his partner, that had changed in the past nine months and the pair was now talking to each other.
Mr Timms submitted a monetary penalty would be an appropriate sentence.
Magistrate Rodney Higgins convicted and fined the man $1000.
