The playing future of Bendigo Cricket Club star Matthew Elliott is still undecided following an official club meeting last night. The former Australian Test batsman met with the Bendigo Cricket Club hierarchy last night to discuss his future with the club after speculation he was linked to Geelong Cricket Association club Newtown and Chillwell.Bendigo Cricket Club president Tony Fitzpatrick told the Bendigo Advertiser this morning that the club’s star player was still yet to make a decision.“The meeting went really well, but Matt is still undecided,” Mr Fitzpatrick said.“What we do know is that if he decides he will play in Bendigo, he will play with us.“We’re just waiting for Matt to decide what he wants to do and I know he is weighing up a few options.“We know Matt is enjoying living in Bendigo, he just needs to work out what is best for him.”Elliot, 39, made 265 runs in seven innings in his debut season with the Goers last summer and won the batting average with 44.2.
