Eaglehawk and Bendigo Harriers are in a great position to earn promotion from divisions two and three as South Bendigo fights to avoid relegation from the premier group.
Because of last Saturday's washout in the metro region, PowerPlays carry over to this weekend's action.
Bendigo Harriers and South Bendigo will both employ the PowerPlay when Saturday's action begins at 1.30pm at the Retreat Road complex in Flora Hill.
An action-packed schedule includes sprint hurdles, 1500m or 3000m walk, 100m, 1500m, 2000m or 3000m steeple, 400m, shot put, javelin, long jump, pole vault, and non-scoring 4 x 100m relay.
Under the AVSL format, clubs earn points on a 10 to 1 basis, and then double that tally from the PowerPlay.
Eaglehawk did so in round eight.
On that day Hawks earned nine points for second-best tally of the round, but led the standings on 18 points.
Eaglehawk is second in division two and will be keen to finish the preliminary rounds in style.
A great summer for the Two Blues included being the number one club at the country championships run in Ballarat, and many records or personal bests in many age groups.
In-form athletes for the Borough include David Chisholm, Kathryn Heagney, Antony Langdon, Terry Hicks, Kye Mason, Jorja Morrison, James Bentley, Olivia Graham, Angus McKindlay, Kenan Seebah, Laura Kadri and Giselle Hattingh.
The Harriers scored 11,198 to be third in last Saturday's standings.
Top performers included top veteran Brett Gilligan, Geoff Jordan, distance runner Anne Buckley, and Frances Leach at high jump.
The day's action for the Harriers will be followed by the club's awards presentation in the social rooms at the Flora Hill track.
It's the first official event in the Harriers 100-year celebrations.
South Bendigo faces a huge challenge to stay in the top flight for the 2021-22 season.
Best for the Bloods in round nine were Emma Orme, Joan Self, Carol Coad, Trudy Haines, and Debby Kirne.
Events in round 10 include the pole vault in which Centre record-holder James Woods will aim to match his best of 4.95m or higher in the build-up to the nationals to be run in Sydney.
It has been a tough season for Bendigo University which will drop down to division five.
A small crew has regularly competed for Uni Pride each Saturday.
Janet Hodnett, Russell Jenkins, David Lonsdale and Andrea Smith represented the club in round nine.
Pride's numbers could rise as Ross Douglas, Phoebe Lonsdale, Mason Woodward, Molly Butler, Ebony Woodward and Anthony Messerle have competed on the track, field, or both this season.
