Apco Kangaroo Flat owner Ron Wade has praised actions of a staff member who helped members of the public use a defibrillator and perform CPR on a man who had a medical episode while driving a truck on Monday morning.
He said the woman's actions reflected her attitude to work.
"She is a fantastic person who works hard and is switched and level headed," he said. "From what I have been told she helped save his life."
Mr Wade, who took over ownership of the petrol station six months ago, said the defibrillator had been in place since 2017.
"It was done through Apco Foundation," he said. "They run several events through the year and put them in petrol stations.
"This is the first time it's been used. It is something you prefer doesn't get used but is needed when it does. It's a life saving instrument when it is needed."

Members of the public performed CPR on a man who had a medical episode while driving a truck in Golden Square on Monday morning.
Bendigo Highway Patrol Acting Senior Sergeant Paul Gordon said the actions of the members of the public likely saved the man's life.
The man, a 68-year-old from noble Park, was stabilised by paramedics who transported him to Bendigo Health.

"Members of public were first on scene and performed CPR on him," Acting Senior Sergeant Gordon said. "It was a fantastic effort. Someone was able to source a defibrillator (from nearby), which gave him a very good chance of pulling through."
Acting Senior Sergeant Gordon said said police were still investigating the incident.
"At this stage all we know is a 68-year-old male from Noble Park was driving his truck," he said. "(The driver) had some sort of medical episode while driving and has come to a stop in the middle of the road.
"We don't know if he stopped the truck or it stopped itself and if, by pure luck, it hasn't hit anybody else. We will work that as we go through the details."
Acting Senior Sergeant Gordon said paramedics worked on the man for almost 30 minutes. He said the importance of having a defibrillator handy shouldn't be understated.
"I know a couple weeks ago a defib was stolen from the Axe Creek fire station," he said. "In a situation like this, it reinforces why we need those.
"People that feel need to take these things put other people's lives at risk. This is a classic example of why we need them. The people who stole (the Axe Creek) defib should consider their actions."
High Street, which was closed during the emergency response, has now been reopened to traffic.
"We had to put some last minute traffic diversions in," Acting Senior Sergeant Gordon said. "People are pretty resilient in situations like this and we thank everyone for their patience."
