RADIO host Neil Mitchell will broadcast his top-rating morning current affairs program from Echuca and Bendigo next week. The journalist’s radio program, broadcast from 3AW in Melbourne and heard in central Victoria on Easymix 1071 and in Echuca through Deniliquin’s 2QN, is hitting the road as part of a tour of country Victoria.Mitchell will broadcast from outside Carters of Echuca in Hare Street on Tuesday from 8.30am and in the Hargreaves Mall on Wednesday from 8.30am on both days. The Mitchell program’s senior producer, Justin Smith, said the tour had been planned for February 2009 but was put on hold because of the Black Saturday bushfires.“What we wanted to do was recognise that we have had a rough old run, and a lot of people in regional Victoria in particular,” he said.“We’ve had fires, floods and drought affect us for a bloody long time and we just wanted to get out of the studio and talk to people. Neil is really looking forward to it.”Smith, who is from Echuca and has been an announcer at 2QN and Easymix 1071’s predecessor, 3CV, said if successful the rural roadshow would become an annual event.
