A man from the Echuca region is being questioned by police investigating a fiery caravan crash in the state's high country that seriously injured two people.

The 37-year-old man from Wharparilla handed himself in to police this morning, Victoria Police said.
The crash happened on the Mansfield-Woods Point Road at Mansfield about 11.15am on Thursday.
"Investigators understand a black Toyota LandCruiser towing a trailer with a bright green ski boat overtook a red Toyota LandCruiser towing a Scenic Galaxy caravan," police said.
"It's believed the red LandCruiser then left the roadway and burst into flames.
"The male driver of the car, a 73-year-old Weir Views man and his female passenger, a 71-year-old Weir Views woman received serious injuries and were airlifted to hospital."
The Wharparilla man is assisting police with their inquiries.
Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage.
