BENDIGO wine makers are set to share their wares, with the return of an open-air festival.
The Bendigo Winemakers Festival in April is expected to draw thousands as it runs two separate daytime events over a weekend in April.
Bendigo Winegrowers Association president Wes Vine said the relaxed atmosphere would show off the region's wines to great effect.
Mr Vine said the festival meant visitors could see the bulk of Bendigo region wineries in one place, where they were normally quite spread out geographically.
He said it was a great chance for people to get out, experience the ambiance, and enjoy wine, food and music.
For winemakers it was a great opportunity for sales, after a long lull in visitors, Mr Wine said.
"It's a great opportunity to show your wines in a format where people are relaxed, they've got access to food, all of it makes a package, it shows the wine off to great effect," Mr Vine said.
"It usually flows on to those people perhaps visiting the winery or cellar door at a later time."
To meet COVID-19 safety requirements the festival will run over two days, each limited to 1000 guests. The Saturday is limited to over 18s only.
Mr Vine said the event would largely be the same as in previous years, with a few changes to aid social distancing.
The Bendigo Winemakers Festival will run during the weekend of April 17 and 18. Find out more online at: bit.ly/2MK0jRX.
