The best and brightest students at Bendigo TAFE were recognised at the institution's annual Industry Excellence Awards last Wednesday evening.

Thirty eight award recipients were acknowledged for their success during the 2020 academic year, from budding electricians and hairdressers to future landscapers and vet nurses.
Bendigo TAFE Student of the Year Krystal Tate, a beauty therapy student, originally postponed her studies in order to meet family commitments, but returned to TAFE to complete her diploma and became the first tertiary-qualified person in her family.

"It really is an honour to be part of this and to even be nominated," Ms Tate said.
"It's such an amazing feeling to know that all the hard work we have all put in is recognised like this."
Plumbing student and CFA officer Andrew Jan was awarded Apprentice of the Year for his passion and leadership skills exhibited during his course.
Madison Blunden was awarded the Inspirational Young Achieve of the Year award, after the veterinary nursing student juggled her studies while caring for an unwell family member.
Bendigo TAFE chief executive officer Sally Curtain said the awards event was the night of nights for student excellence.
"The challenges our students faced in 2020 did not deter them from achieving incredible success, both in their studies and the contribution they are making to their wider community," Ms Curtain said.
