People's chances of surviving a cardiac arrest drop dramatically without immediate intervention from bystanders and Ambulance Victoria says that makes the new Pyramid Hill AED critically important.
It says that for every minute that CPR is delayed, survival decreases by 10 per cent

But survival rates increase by 68 per cent when bystanders call Triple Zero, begin CPR and shock using an AED.
Pyramid Hill's new AED is located outside of Millers Ag Supplies.
It was donated by mining companies Catalyst Minerals and Handcock Prospecting, which are exploring the area for gold.
The company also donated another $5000 to the area's Community Emergency Response Team for training.
Ambulance Victoria is also urging people to get involved in its GoodSAM Responders program.
"GoodSAMs" are members of the community who are willing to save lives, by starting hands-only CPR while an ambulance is on the way.
GoodSAMs have an app on their phone, which sends an alert if someone nearby has suffered a cardiac arrest. They can accept (if they are able) and start CPR until paramedics arrive and take over.
Ambulance Victoria is looking to recruit an additional 5000 GoodSAMs over the coming months to give more Victorians the chance to go home to their families.
Anyone over 18 with a smartphone who is willing to do hands-only CPR can become a GoodSAM.
