The under-17s broke through for their first win of the NPL season at the weekend when they defeated the Melbourne Knights 3-1, while the under-15s drew with Brimbank 1-1.
The ony defeat for the day was in the under-14s where the Knights defeated Bendigo City 4-0.
The under-17s first win of the season took an early detour when the visitors scored the first goal inside five minutes.
Bendigo settled, controlled the play and levelled the scores thanks to a quality strike by Hamish Walker.
Bendigo took the lead when Eli Harvey pounced on a deflected strike from Walker late in the first half.
Early in the second the Knights suffered a setback when a defender received a red card for a head-high knock.
Depite being a man down the Knights continued to press for the equaliser until Bendigo scored an insurance goal by Poung Thay with a long-range chip over the keeper.
Bendigo City's under-15s again burst out of the gates with the bulk of the early attack until Melbourne settled.
Melbourne's midfield caused havoc midway through the first half only to be denied by the great wall of Bendigo defenders led by Archie Goudie.
Bendigo took the lead early in the second half thanks to a quality lob over the keeper by Fraser Lee.
The Knights sent wave after wave of attacks forward only to be repelled by the Bendigo defence.
Melbourne finally got its answering goal with just minutes to spare.
Despite the 4-0 defeat, the under-14s showed some major progress.
The team recorded a season-high nine shots on goal and, by controlling upwards of 70 per cent of the possession, kept the opposition to just two goals in each half.
Bendigo plays a double header this weekend against St Albans SC and Caroline Spring George Cross FC.
