The new Eggs-plore Bendigo event comes after council decided to postpone the Easter fair due to coronavirus guidelines making it difficult to produce a COVID-safe event.
Eggs-plore Bendigo will take place between Good Friday (April 2) to Easter Monday (April 5) with a number of activities planned around the CBD area.

Family activities and attractions include Farmer Darryl's petting zoo, carnival rides, the Rotary Art Show, traditional Chinese performances and events at the Discovery Science and Technology Centre.
Workshops for kids, a scavenger hunt, hand-made artisan experiences at Central Deborah Gold Mine, the Easter Book Fair, a Bendigo Woodturners exhibition, music and a movie in the park have also been planned.
Bendigo's traditional parades featuring the city's Chinese dragons will not take place. Neither will the Vision Australia Easter egg hunt.
Bendigo mayor Jen Alden said the Eggs-plore Bendigo program had a great range of free or low-cost events to for families and visitors but stressed that bookings were essential.
"All of these events are ticketed so you will need to book early to avoid disappointment as venue numbers are capped," Cr Alden said.
"I encourage you to browse the program and book your tickets as soon as you can because tickets will not be available at the entrance to events on the day.
"And don't forget we will still need to keep our events COVID-safe so please bring a mask, remember to practise good hand hygiene, maintain social distancing and stay home if you are feeling unwell.
"Bendigo is very much open for business and we can't wait to see everyone enjoying the many different activities and events on offer with Eggs-plore Bendigo at Easter at various locations across the city."
The 150th Bendigo Easter Fair is scheduled to be celebrated in 2022 with a full program of events and activities.
