"The first couple of laps I wasn't too confident he was following one that would take him into the race and he did have to do a lot of work, but they were running along well, so I knew that would eventually help.

"That last lap when he did get a bit closer and then Ellen pulled him out and he gave chase to Downunder Barkers, the confidence grew, knowing both horses' abilities inside and out."
Hargreaves could not disguise her affection for the horse that has come to mean so much to her and described him as like a best friend.
"He and I have a really special bond, not many horses show that they love you back, but he does," she said.
"He's not a fan of a lot of people, so I feel a bit special.
"He helped me through a hard time that I had last year, so he's my little shining light."
A third consecutive win for Well Defined, who also finished second in this year's Group 3 Cobram Trotters Cup, boosted his overall career record to 14 wins and 17 placings from 71 starts for earnings of $129,301 for his owners Hargreaves, her brother Brett and his partner Brooke Palfreyman.
Nearly $34,000 of that prize money has been earned at his past three starts.
Hargreaves paid plenty of credit for Well Defined's rise to Tormey, who has experienced a purple of patch of her own during the first month of the Team Teal campaign for ovarian cancer awareness with 13 winners, and her training partner Ashwood.
"I can't fault Ellen, since she jumped on the horse he's gone from strength-to-strength - he's racing better than ever now," she said.
"She does a terrific job, it's really underestimated how difficult this horse is to drive, he's a little bit fizzy and a bit of an unknown at times.
"She is very patient with him.
"And Alex, he does a lot of the work behind the scenes that nobody gets to see and does a great job."
Well Defined's mile rate of 2:03.1 was a new track record at Boort and followed hot on the heels of his record-breaking performance in the Ararat Trotters Cup.
A trio of wins has Hargreaves determined for even more country cup success,
"I think he will always be competitive in these country cups no matter what handicap he is off, and he is competitive against the top-class horses," she said.
"He just a great little honest."
Hargreaves was thrilled to have quinellaed the race, with Downunder Barkers earning praise for a brave performance behind Well Defined.
"He had to sit parked and do a lot of work and they've ended up running a track record," she said.
"I couldn't have been happier with him. He will certainly get better and might just be a horse to follow in these country cups off good handicaps.
"I haven't really looked that far ahead with both of them, I'll have to go back to the program and have a look."
