Ten-year-old Salva McIntosh has accrued more than 70 signatures on a petition for skate facilities in the suburb's recreation reserve.

Salva said his dream was a full skate park, in between the tennis courts and playground. But he agreed with mum Heidi McIntosh that even a small half pipe or some slopes would be great for young skaters.

Salva said loved going to the Eaglehawk skate park with his friends, but it was quite hard to get there. He said quite a few of his friends in Quarry Hill also thought a skate park at the recreation reserve would be a good idea.

"The vibe there would be really good as well, I love that about the Eaglehawk skate park." he said.

"I just like how there's a bunch of friendly skaters there, and I'd like that here as well."

Salva has drawn strong support from friends and teachers at school, who all said they liked the idea.

He and Mrs McIntosh hope to meet with one of their local councillors to talk about the petition before presenting to the council.

Mrs McIntosh said they had spoken with a town planner at an Imagine Greater Bendigo event, who was encouraging but wanted them to remember change could also take time.

"It's very exciting to see Salva have the ideas, and the initiative, and the passion to try and make some improvements where he's passionate about," she said.
