Police alleged the boy and two co-accused broke into the car and stole it about 5.30am the next day.
The owner reported the car as stolen a couple of hours later.
The court heard about 11am that day, a police officer allegedly saw the teen driving the stolen car with the two co-accused.
The officer attempted to pull the car over, but the boy allegedly accelerated and collided with a metal fence.
Police alleged the 17-year-old continued to speed off, swerving in and out of traffic, before the car stopped because it ran out of fuel.
The teen and the two co-accused left the car and attempted to hide, but police located and arrested them a short time later.
The court heard the 17-year-old had never held a driver's licence. The car, which was worth about $100,000, was damaged in the alleged offending.
The teen was also on bail at the time for other matters.
The prosecutor said the teen was an unacceptable risk of reoffending as he had allegedly committed further offences while on bail.
The defence lawyer said the teen had no prior convictions and had support through services like Anglicare and Youth Justice.
The lawyer said bail conditions like a curfew could alleviate the prosecution's concerns.
But the magistrate refused bail, saying the boy had previously "blown his chance".
The magistrate said it was "too dangerous" to release the boy from custody because of the serious driving allegations.
The boy was remanded in custody and is due to return to court next month.
