TWO young men featured in today’s Bendigo Advertiser for prospering in their chosen pursuits should remind the region’s youth that anything is possible if they are prepared to work hard enough.Former Bendigo student Lincoln Younes, 18, returns to television this week on the series Home And Away.Bendigo’s Aaron Wilson, 19, is taking the lawn bowls scene by storm this week, rolling past far more seasoned opponents and into the last four of the Australian Open men’s singles. For Lincoln, the Home and Away stint and a looming movie role add further depth to a fast-developing acting career.Flora Hill Secondary College can take credit for sending the young actor on his way with parts in school musicals. From there he has found his way to Summer Bay via a strong performance in the TV series Tangle and smaller parts in shows such as City Homicide. Any young central Victorian students harbouring thoughts of an acting career need look no further than Lincoln for proof such a career is achievable.Similarly, any young sportsperson should take inspiration from the efforts of Aaron Wilson on a national stage. Aaron did a fantastic job in reaching the Australian Open tournament and should be proud of the way he has handled himself since. The skills he honed on central Victorian greens before heading to Melbourne are now being used to show the bowling world he has arrived in the sport. Central Victoria should be proud of these young men and the fact they learned many life skills growing up in this community.
