Harrower nears 3000-point mark in Women's National Basketball League career

Bendigo Bank Spirit captain Kristi Harrower could reach a milestone in tomorrow’s Women’s National Basketball League clash with the AIS in Canberra.The talented point guard is only 16 points from reaching a career tally of 3000 points in the WNBL.Harrower was back to her best form in last Friday night’s hard-fought match against the Dandenong Rangers, scoring 17 points for the match on the Spirit’s home court at Bendigo Stadium.The 2009 WNBL Most Valuable Player is also only 21 points away from achieving the club milestone of being the first Bendigo Spirit player to reach 1000 points.Harrower returned to Bendigo this season after her fourth world championships with the Opals and is looking to be on track to again lead the Spirit in the team’s fourth WNBL season.Harrower will have the chance to reach both milestones in the Spirit’s round three match against the AIS.A triple silver medallist at the Olympic Games, Harrower is a dual yearly winner of the Bendigo Advertiser Sports Star of the Year.The awards are supported by WIN Television and mecu credit union.Both Bendigo and the AIS are yet to win a game this season, but the Spirit look to have struck form against Dandenong.The Spirit’s recent form against the AIS has been outstanding.Bendigo has dominated the past two showdowns with the young guns from the AIS.The Spirit scored a 94-45 win against the AIS last October and won the most recent contest between the teams by 20 points in January.
