Eaglehawk's Star Cinema is planning to thank healthcare workers by hosting a free event for them in February.

Star Cinema board secretary Roger Muller said the movie night will be exclusively for healthcare workers as a way of recognising their efforts during the pandemic.
"At our last meeting in December, we talked about it and everyone thought it was a very good idea," he said.
"We are conscious of what healthcare workers have been through and are still going through. We're part of the community and wanted to do something to recognise (their efforts)."

The cinema will screen Wild Mountain Thyme, a family drama set in Ireland, on February 17. Mr Muller said Star Cinema is currently able to host 120 people.
"We won't be able to quite do what we normally like to do but ... fingers crossed we will be near to capacity," he said.
