FORMER Bendigo Pioneer Brodie Kemp is facing another extended period on the sidelines, with the first-round Carlton draftee of 2019 requiring ankle surgery.
Kemp, from Echuca, missed all of his first season with the Blues last year while rehabbing a torn ACL suffered during 2019 while playing school football for Geelong.
The Blues confirmed this week Kemp, 19, was likely to be sidelined for up to 12 weeks with a syndesmosis injury to his left ankle.
"Brodie has put in a lot of hard work over the last 12 months from the moment he arrived at the football club," Carlton head of football Brad Lloyd said.
"While this news is unfortunate as Brodie was really setting himself for the start of the season, he certainly has the mindset to attack his rehab with professionalism and commitment."
Carlton selected Kemp from the Pioneers with selection 17 in the 2019 AFL Draft.
Another former Pioneer, Melbourne's Marty Hore, last week suffered a season-ending ACL injury.
