Maryborough man Fred Treble is being awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to the community.

Mr Treble, 93, is still involved in the Maryborough City Brass Band, the Maryborough Aero Club and the Maryborough Arts Society.
He was mayor of the former Maryborough City Council in the 1970s and founded the Maryborough Development Board.
Mr Treble was also president of the Maryborough Golden Wattle Festival for more than 20 years.

Being on the fundraising committee for the Dunolly Swimming Pool was one of Mr Treble's earliest involvements, in the 1950s.
He appreciated the recognition for the organisations he had belonged to throughout the years.
"I certainly appreciate the opportunity to serve in the community," Mr Treble said.
He said he had a natural inclination to get involved whenever he was offered the opportunity to help out.
"Being asked if I'd do something, I just naturally said that I would and never refused to do anything. Whenever I could serve, I did."
Mr Treble plays the euphonium. He founded the Dunolly Citizens Brass Band in the 1960s and has been recognised for his decades of service to bands by the Maryborough City Brass Band, the Victorian bands League and the National Band Council of Australia.
His occupations throughout the years included being a projectionist at the St Arnaud cinema, many years ago, and training as a watchmaker and jeweller.
Membership of the Maryborough Rotary Club was also among Mr Treble's noted contributions to the community, along with chairing the Maryborough District Advertiser board for two terms.
