The six-year-old gelding, who is only a recent acquisition for the Dyer stable, has collected 242 votes since public voting for the $5m feature race opened last Friday.
That has Kaonic placed 24th in the order of voting.
Ten of the 15 spots in the field for the All-Star Mile, which will be run at Moonee Valley on Saturday, March 13, will be allocated to the top-10 horses in the public vote.
The field is being led by the dual Group 1-winning Western Australian mare Arcadia Queen (3647 votes) for her trainers Grant and Alana Willams.
The South Australian-trained Behemoth is next best with 3626 votes.
Highlighting the task ahead for Kaonic, the former Chris Waller-trained horse trails the current 10th-placed horse in the voting Crosshaven by 815 votes.
The gelding was initially purchased by Dyer's clients with this year's Darwin Cup in mind.
Eighty-three horses have nominated for the All-Star Mile.
Voting remains open until Sunday, February 14.
